The Japan Eyewear EXPO (JEX) -Beginning- officially opened on October 7, 2026, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho Building. Organized by the Japan Eyewear EXPO Executive Committee, the exhibition was created to strengthen communication within the eyewear industry and provide a dedicated platform for business connections, product discovery and industry exchange.

The 2026 edition is being held across the 2nd to 5th floors of the Hamamatsucho Building. According to the organizer, more than 100 companies and brands had confirmed their participation by early September. The exhibition also includes a dedicated "SABAE" zone highlighting eyewear products and manufacturing from Sabae, one of Japan's best-known eyewear production areas.

In addition to product displays, JEX -Beginning- features industry seminars and presentations covering eyewear-related topics. The event also includes an open seminar organized by the Japanese Academy of Ophthalmic Science, providing visitors with opportunities to learn about developments and issues within the optical field.

The exhibition has attracted participation from companies involved in eyewear, optical equipment and related technologies. For example, NIDEK announced that it is presenting products ranging from vision-testing equipment to lens-processing systems at its booth during the event.

For eyewear manufacturers and buyers, exhibitions such as JEX provide an opportunity to observe product developments, meet potential business partners and understand changes taking place across the Japanese eyewear market. The event also highlights the importance of Sabae and Japanese eyewear manufacturing within the broader industry.

As the first edition of JEX, the 2026 exhibition represents a new development in Japan's professional eyewear trade-show landscape. Its focus on eyewear products, manufacturing, technology and industry communication makes it an event worth following for companies involved in the global optical and eyewear business.
