On June 16, at the Augmented World Expo in Long Beach, California, Chinese AR company XREAL officially launched its next-generation spatial computing glasses, the XREAL AURA, and simultaneously opened global pre-orders. Co-developed with Google and Qualcomm, the product is the first lightweight consumer hardware built on the Android XR platform. XREAL AURA serves as the commercial realization of the Project Aura prototype first showcased at Google I/O 2026, positioning itself as a next-generation spatial computing eyewear product. XREAL co-founder and CEO Xu Chi stated at the launch event that AURA sets a new benchmark for OST XR glasses, bringing powerful AI-driven experiences into daily work and life, and marking the arrival of a new era for portable spatial computing glasses.

Weighing under 95 grams-comparable to ordinary prescription glasses-the AURA features an optical see-through (OST) design with a 70° field of view, delivering an immersive large-screen virtual display experience. The glasses are equipped with multiple sensors on the frame, supporting hand tracking, 6DoF spatial positioning, and multimodal AI interaction. Under the hood, XREAL AURA adopts a dual-chip split-compute architecture: the dedicated spatial compute unit is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, while the glasses integrate XREAL's self-developed X1S spatial computing chip to handle low-latency spatial display and sensor processing. On the software side, the product deeply integrates Google's Android XR ecosystem and Gemini AI capabilities. At launch, users will have access to millions of existing Android phone and tablet apps via the Google Play Store, with over 100 XR-native applications currently in development. XREAL has already distributed hundreds of developer kits globally through Google's Android XR Catalyst Developer Program, covering entertainment, productivity, gaming, sports, healthcare, and enterprise applications.
